Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
July 18, 2009
At long last, the sixth movie in the Harry Potter series (There will altogether be 8 movies, the 7th book will split into 2 movies) has finally arrived at the cinemas. After being pushed from November last year to July 2009, I was very anticipating the movie. The last movie was absolutely brilliant and this movie is also directed by the same director (David Yates). Pros: The acting is SUPERB, everyone's acting in the movie was just brilliant) I paricularly like the guy who played Horace Slughorn in the movie (Can someone tell me the actor's name? I have trouble remembering his name). Special effects too are very good. The scene with the Death Eaters and the collapsing bridge at the beginning of the movie's really good, and the part where Dumbledore made up a big inferno was also pleasing to my eyes :P
Cons: Mind you, I did read the book and I found that some parts in the book was not mentioned or shown in the movie, like some of Voldemort's (or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named) past (Only 3 scenes were shown in the movie, whereas the book mentioned more). The movie also feels kinda short to me. Eventhough the movie lasted for at least 2 hours, the movie seemed to finish quite fast, which disappointed me. Those who didin't read the book will misunderstang some of the parts in the movie as it didin't explain much.
Summary: This movie is really good and recommendable to all HP fans and non-fans. I hope David did the cons intentionally so he can give everyone one big surprise in the last 2 movies.
