A PSA on Football Supporters
February 11, 2012Guess what? I got lazy again (you don't say?) and since I wanted update this dead blog, I thought "hey, why don't I just copy the stuff I wrote on Facebook as placeholders?" and ta-da! Here was my PSA that I posted on Facebook a few days ago...
"What's wrong with supporting a football club that you don't support? I have full respect for every Premier League club in England, including Wigan (I meant that).
Yes, I do respect Manchester United, cause they are managed by a successful (and Scottish!) manager in Sir Alex Ferguson, and the draw with Chelsea recently proves that they won't go down without a fight.
When that's the case, if one could respect their team's rival, why can't some quarters of ManU supporters respect the Liverpool fans (and Chelsea, and Arsenal, even City)? Everyday there's always complaints towards the Kop side, no matter if they win ("they're just lucky") or lose ("go play in the championship" they would say). What I dislike most is The Star sports editors, who made the mother of all Wars by including a SMS column in their sports section, which I've disagreed since day one. Where's the fun when all we see are quarrels between different club supporters?
So, next time when I hear people calling Liverpool a "Loser Club", I would have totally lost my respect in you, you ignorant scum. Sincerely, a Kop and general football fan. #YNWA"
There, I said it. So why can't we just get along and enjoy the beautiful game?
