This is James Cameron's first feature film since the massively successful Titanic (1997). So does Avatar live up to James's previous movie (not to mention the hype surrounding it)? Click "Read More!" for the full review.
The pros: Is it just me? Or is this year stuffed with movies with loads of special effects? Avatar is one of those, but the special effects displayed is probably the best special effects in a movie ever, and it's so good it makes Transformers and 2012 hide in a corner and weep. The story too is pretty good, where humans set foot on another planet to takes its resources from the natives there. Acting is also superb, especially from the likes of Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver who both displayed brilliant acting.
The cons: Mum? When is this movie gonna end? This 161-minute movie kinda dragged the movie a bit too much (but the stories still good!) And the movie is trying the tell us a message about saving trees, but in a very, very odd way (OMG! How can we protect the trees in the future when giant robots and fighter planes are coming to take it down...... with bows and arrows?? We're screwed)
Summary: It's good to know from this movie James Cameron still has what it takes to make a great movie after 12 long years. Stunning special effects, great story and superb acting makes this one of the best movie of the year.
90/100
P.S. OMG! Avatar has overtaken Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as the highest-rated movie on this blog! Congrats?
