#IceBucketChallenge
August 30, 2014
Bill Gates' doing it, Mark Zuckerberg's doing it, Benedict Cumberbatch's doing it, hell, even worms are doing it. There's only one star who hasn't done the ice bucket challenge, and that's Me...gan Fox.
Oh, and did I mention that I did one too? Video's available below, but before you proceed, don't watch this with headphones/earphones. You're welcome.
As someone pointed out, pretty much 70% of the water splashed at the back (making this the best of fails), while the slow motion parts can possibly tear your ear right off! I've found a way to avoid it but I'm not bothered to re-upload the entire thing again.
But I want to take the time to talk about the aftermath of the ice bucket challenge set up by the ALS association to raise awareness on Lou Gehrig's disease. If we looked at this from a marketing/advertising perspective, it's done a bang on job. The fact that it has got celebrities and living geniuses to take part is already free advertising on its own, and the donations received by the ALS, which has reached $100 million in only a month, is a testament to its effect.
It's a fun social media activity, but some people are getting butt-hurt over it. People are posting their donation receipts on Facebook, at the same time making a big deal about not doing the challenge... I'm sure you're very popular.
And if you're skeptical about donating to the American ALS association, there's always the UK's MND association, which serves the same cause.
