Toy Story 1 & 2 (3-D)
May 02, 2010
With Toy Story 3 looming in the distance, Pixar decided to release Toy Story 1 and 2 again in the cinemas, but this time with some 3-D tweaks. Click "Read More!" for the full review.
THE PROS:
If I were to rate this movie as a 5 year old, this would have gotten 100/100, that's because it was really that AWESOME back then. Even now the story is interesting and heart-warming, especially the first movie. The sound effects are superb and the character voices are very clear. There's also some jokes (not slapstick, mind) which I never understood when I was younger, and it gave me quite a laugh.
THE CONS:
The computer animations feels dated, especially the first one (it was released in 1995, so you can't really complain). For some reason, I preferred the second movie's story when I was younger, but now it's the other way around, as I found the second mvie's plot boring. And while I appreciate Pixar's hard efforts to implement 3-D in both movies, most of the 3-D scenes do ot stand out as much, so you might actually just pass through some scenes without knowing it was tweaked with 3-D magic.
SUMMARY:
No matter how young or how old you are, this movie's gonna be a blast for everyone. Since Toy Story 3 is coming out in June, it'll be good to refresh your memories on the story. Lastly, if you've watched the movies to nuts on the VHS tapes when you were younger, prepare for a big dose of nostalgia.
P.S. I recommend going to the loo before the movie starts, cause in between the 2 movies there's quizzies and some clips, including a 1992 animation play-test, which I've never seen before! :O
93/100
